Apply for an Immigrant Visa with Consular Processing Near Brooklyn, NY
The Consular Processing Process
After the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) approves the Petition for Alien Relative, the USCIS will forward the approved Petition for Alien Relative to the National Visa Center (NVC).
The NVC would create an immigrant visa case, contact the immigrant, and provide instructions on the Immigrant Visa process.
The immigrating immigrant must complete the Immigrant Visa application and provide copies of all the required documents.
After the immigrating immigrant completes the Immigrant Visa application and provides all the required documents, the NVC would review the application and the documents, schedule the immigrating immigrant for an interview, and forward the Immigrant Visa application to the U.S. Embassy at the immigrating immigrant country.
When the immigrating immigrant appears for the interview, the immigrating immigrant must bring with him a medical examination and the original required documents.
At the interview, the consular officer will go over the Immigrant Visa application and the original required documents and ask the immigrating immigrant questions.
After the interview, the immigrating immigrant would receive an Immigrant Visa in the passport. The Immigrant Visa would be valid for up to six months.
The immigrating immigrant would receive Legal Permanent Resident status (Green Card) upon arrival to the U.S. The actual Green Card would be mailed to the immigrating immigrant at the address he specified on the Immigrant Visa application.
